Comment on Adrian Searle's article 'Notes on an art crisis', the Guardian.
Firstly - hello guardian art readers,
I enjoyed the article, and felt amazed that so many people find it in themselves necessary to leave bad feedback - is this adding to an argument that you have invented for yourselves as the articles creates none?!\
The credit crisis is something felt by all sectors but yet has no real identity, no face, no substance in which one can predict / fight with. This said the article above seems to have little content in the way in which the sector is dealing with the current issues, but rather points out things that have been created because of it (i.e. the panel discussions).
Also one view one might have on the media relationship pointed out above between the (famed) artists of England, and every other artist, is everyone must aspire to be this. The media feeds us stories that sell papers, amongst other things. Many artists live comfortably, out of the limelight, living 'their dream' as a professional person working in what they enjoy. But the media ideology of the art world is maybe a theme for an article for another day.
